Summer begins

This year has been coolish. Lots of days have been unseasonably so. We had a couple of hot days so far, but have still had to wear light jackets in the mornings.

We planted a LOT of new perennials and they look gorgeous. We have planted many colors and have planted lots of Red plants. The plants have brought in more birds than ever before. (At least this is true as far as I have noticed.) I have to admit that this is the first year we have really spent time birdwatching. We have even put up 3 bird feeders. It feels so good to know that we are setting up a natural habitat area. I do not know how much we have invested, but it is all worth it. I even put one flowerpot with artificial red flowers in it because it attracts Hummingbirds. We actually had one here this year! First one I have seen in person. There are also wrens, bluejays, orioles, mourning doves (a pair), robins and goldfinches. I take a lot of photos of the flowers in my Secret Garden. Every year it changes for the better. We sit out there often. The mosquitos are here too! I have the bites to show for it. This is the start of Summer. The 4th is close already! Today we met Lacey and Kids at Twin Lakes. We had a picnic and Larry fished. Hunter helped! They have a secret fishing place. Hunter learned to climb up and down the steep bank. I actually did not worry. Still not sure why. We took a short walk as my back is still bothering me. It hurts when I stand up after I have been bending to pull weeds. If it does not get better soon, I will get it checked out. My tmj has been hurting too. I read about massage for it and it seems to be helping a lot. I rub it several times a day whenever I think about it. We don't know yet what we will be doing for the 4th Holiday. Lacey might be with us because Scott has to work. Wish I could think of something special to do. We could go visit Grandma Fran. I would love to spend it with Dad, but that is almost too much to hope for. We just saw him here when Jodee and Tyler and Sydney were here last week. He and Jim came down for a late lunch last Saturday. Lacey's were busy with Scott's Family get together.

Hunter got to ride a Train again. Dad also got to ride it. Will write more about that in a later post.
